SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Two people were taken into custody Thursday in connection with a shooting at the San Diego State University trolley station.
San Diego State University Police said officers responded at around 5 p.m. to a report of a male with a gunshot wound in the 5100 block of College Avenue.
As police investigated the incident, SDSU officials advised those on campus to remain indoors and be alert. Officials noted the parties involved in the shooting were not affiliated with the school.
An SDSU Police official said one person in custody — described as a juvenile — is believed to be the suspected shooter and the other male of unknown age is the victim. The shooting victim was taken to the hospital with injuries considered non-life threatening.
Officers located the weapon that may have been used in the shooting and were in search of another person possibly connected to the incident. A description of that person was not immediately available.
Due to the shooting and subsequent investigation, evening classes and other on-campus events — including the Aztec Nights — were canceled.
Police are investigating the events that led to the gunfire.
SDSU Police are reminding students and members of the nearby community to download the SDSU Safe App and register for emergency alerts via Urgent SDSU.
